Our Force Atlantic crew are well underway in the World’s Toughest Row, rowing more than 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua — one of the toughest endurance challenges in the world.
What makes this campaign especially significant is that Force Atlantic is the first-ever all-junior-rank military crew to take on this challenge. The team is made up entirely of serving soldiers from 12 Regiment Royal Artillery, proving that determination, teamwork and resilience know no rank.
🚣♀️ Meet the Crew
The Force Atlantic crew consists of:
- Bombardier Katie Devine (Skipper)
- Bombardier Olie Cutting
- Bombardier Vicki Wratten-Wood
- Gunner Emma Mackenzie
Together, they are rowing day and night in rotating shifts — typically two hours on, two hours off — battling heat, waves, exhaustion and sleep deprivation as they push steadily west across the ocean.

🌍 Progress at Sea
The team continues to make steady progress alongside crews from across the world, adapting constantly to changing weather conditions and sea states. Life on board is intense, physically demanding and mentally challenging, but morale remains strong as they tick off mile after mile towards Antigua.
Their effort is not only a test of endurance, but also a powerful demonstration of leadership, teamwork and resilience — values at the heart of military service.
