The Army Offshore Sailing Centre (AOSC) at Fort Blockhouse, Gosport has an exciting and comprehensive sailing programme for 2026, including a number of courses that could appeal to our members.
You do not need to be currently serving in the Army to take part in courses or events, but all participants must be members of the Army Sailing Association (ASA). Membership is open to serving personnel, veterans and civilians. Keep reading or click the following link for more details.

Shore-Based Courses (Fort Blockhouse)
- Day Skipper Theory: 2–6 February
- Yachtmaster Theory: 20–25 April
- Other courses available through the year: First Aid, VHF, Diesel Engine
(Bespoke courses for clubs are often possible — please ask.)
Practical Sailing Courses
- Competent Crew / Day Skipper: 2 weekend courses (dates published separately)
- Coastal Skipper: 20–24 April | 28 September – 2 October
- Yachtmaster: 16–22 March | 14–20 September
- Cruising Instructor: 19–23 October
Sailing Experience & Events
- Mile Builders: 18–26 July (Jurassic Coast) | 22–31 August (Cross Channel)
- Cruising Rallies: 1–4 May | 28–31 August | 3–4 October
- Army Offshore Regatta: 11–15 May 2026, based in Cowes, with prize giving at Fort Blockhouse
(£150 per boat – includes crew polos & Regatta Dinner; feeding and berthing reclaimable)
